VERTICAL CAMPUS: IZMIR SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN

VERTICAL CAMPUS

After the observations of the different complex volumes around the perimeter of the site, fragmeneted volume idea to create a vertical campus in such complex environment become more logical in both means of connecting the design to the public and connecting the programs to interrelate with each other's. This fragmented system is created in mainly four steps. Approximate volumes of the programs are defined and placed in volumes which follow the strip tracks of the urban ground floor. After defining the character of the each volume as public or private (open to public or only academic) the columes which are public or mix set forward through the Kordon, others (only academic) set back from it. The bond function volumes are placed between the volumes to increase the total interaction of the design. The parasitic system creates extension of the public volumes and circulation axes through the city. Also creates secondary circulation axes and gallery openings between the interrelated volumes.
