VERTICAL CAMPUS: IZMIR SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN

INTERSPACE

Education is commonly perceived as scholars and a tutor gathering together in a certain space for knowledge and information exchange. However I believe that an important part of self improvement and schooling occurs within informal student spaces. These spaces enhances the education process and therefore is an important part of campus life. Urban campus concept lacks these student spaces unlike a suburban campus where this interaction occurs effortlessly between broad circulation areas and green spaces. The idea is to create these informal student spaces radiating from a central circulation system. This concept is carried out as a grand staircase passing trough the mass which connects studios with lecture rooms and creating these informal spaces in between.
