A CENTER FOR ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTION AND EXCHANGE: DESIGNING AN IN-CITY CAMPUS FOR A SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE IN PARIS
SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
The project is to design an architecture school in Paris for ENSA Paris La Villette. The context of the project is Parc de la Villette which is designed by Bernard Tschumi. ENSA Paris La Villette is a school which has an aim of being integrated with public and also is a political and social school. The open and semi-open spaces of ENSA Paris La Villette are used very actively by the students and professors and they host many different activities. The main design idea is to create active open spaces for different activities; which makes the school more integrated with both the park and public. With this purpose, rather than creating one building; the plan is shaped as a pavilion type of buildings so that every programmatic element of the school placed in different building blocks. At the ground floor there is open circulation between blocks connected with main courtyard. At the second floor there is a semi-open circulation system which connects all the building blocks.
