A CENTER FOR ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTION AND EXCHANGE: DESIGNING AN IN-CITY CAMPUS FOR A SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE IN PARIS

ENSAPLV I THE BOX

The project area contains several parameters to be concerned about. To name some of them:
Parc de La Villette, as a rehabilitated old industrial region with a unique design idea and space relations, a huge number of housing blocks, music complex, conservatory, a busy boulevard with cafes and other commercial activities. Within that complexity, the passenger, especially walking in and around the parc, comes across with lots of plastic and surface experimentations applied in different periods of time. As a reaction to that, the building has a simple surface and 3D character. It is a rectangular prism which is slightly altered to fit its context. The program is interpreted as a communication and -by communicating- learning activity complex. Thus, encountering spaces have a relatively strong effect on the general layout. Studios are also arranged in a way to expose its process.

The ground is left free for spontaneous use and exhibition of the works of great scale works.
